International CES

posted on: December 3rd, 2007

Good news! We’re going to the International CES on January 7-10th in Las Vegas.  Having a film crew really does help your chances of attending a show.  This show brings more than 70,000 140,000 attendees. Considering that Blog World was only 1,000+ this is going to be one hell of an event. [Thanks for the correction John]

It doubles the amount of the people that go to Disneyland in one day.  Blogging the Movie will be attending the show at with Press Passes.  It pays to do a documentary. =)

Let me know if you’re going.  2008 is going to be blazing with a great start.  You can find more information about the expo at CESweb.org.

Possible Buyout for LinkedIn

posted on: November 22nd, 2007

Another social networking site for grown-ups could see a possible buy out.  CNet News reports that they will have a follow up post after Thanksgiving.

Web 2.0 has seen some exciting news of mergers and acquisitions.  The difference between the first internet craze in the 90’s is that these companies that are emerging today have a huge audience base.  This base brings mounds real traffic and data.   These mounds have make a huge barrier to entry to reach a buyout opportunity.

Buyout

How does one determine what is the right price.  Friendster lost a huge opportunity for a buyout because they got too greedy.  They held out, thinking that their company was worth more than the offer.  The systems overloaded with the demand, and people eventually fled to MySpace.   Holding off on a buyout maybe be beneficial, however if you have a rising competitor that can take your share of the market place, a buyout might be the safe way to go.

Chance of a Lifetime

In business there are 2 things outcomes of a company’s life.   The first being that the business will fail for whatever reason.  The second is that the company will eventually get bought out.  Yes there are companies that will last longer than one’s life, however there will be a time that the company will be bought out to another merging competitor.  Greed has no 2nd chances.

Blog World Expo AfterParty with the Big Dogs

posted on: November 10th, 2007

After the key note speaker Mark Cuban spoke at Blog World Expo.  I scurried down to the front to greet him with an green eyed ambitous millionaire.  I shook his hand and asked if he would like to speak in my documentary, he said to shoot him an email.   Even though he was just a small gesture of saying I’m too busy, it’s ok.  It all about your social surroundings.

Speaking of which Blog World Expo is worth every penny.  The networking and relationships built in this expo is far more valuable than the things you will learn over the net.

Right now we’re here just about to go out and get to know each other outside the blogosphere.   So I’m about to go out and play with Ms. Danille, Gary Lee, Darin.cc, the boys from Unique Blog Designs, and Egonitron.   Whatever happens in vegas will get blog posted over the world. Hahha jp guys.

I will give a full recap of BWE after this weekend.   Enjoy your weekend.

The booth

posted on: November 7th, 2007

The time right now is currently 12:43pm and I had a quick chance to take a break from all the chaos with the events going on in Las Vegas.

Blog Design dot com

I just ran into my good friend Nate Whitehill and Josh from Unique Blog Designs.  They had a few good tricks up their sleeves.  They put up a nice 3 x 7 vinyl banner with their logo and contact information.  To lure a great key search word, they have the domain name blogdesign.com which will forward you to UniqueBlogDesigns.com and you can check out the recent post I gave about creating a great Blog Design.  I’m sure they will now brand their name as the new STANDARD.

Blog Catalog

So while in line to get my Exhibitor passes, I overheard a gentleman and his party trying to register with the name Blog Catalog.  Being the Go-Getter, I extend my hand and introduce myself to the crowd.

“Hey, I’m Prija with Blogging The Movie.  I like your company.”

It was a simple introduction we exchanged business cards and then I was on my way.  Anthony the owner later stated how much better my site looks now.  Thanks Nate, your work is being appreciated.  I though they have been around for a while, however looks like hey started this past June.  I’m impressed with their work so far.  And yes Anthony I already have a BlogCatalog account. haha.  Don’t worry I will participate in the discussion more often.

Venue

The setup is pretty big. For some reason after attending expo like Anime Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center and Comicon this Expo is small in comparison.  However, you have to realize that this is the first Blog World Expo so it is expected to be the smallest.  This expo will grow in the coming years and they have already advertised next year’s event as Sept 18th and 19th.   Mark them now.

Pictures will be up shortly as my PR rep Huy Diep will soon post pictures on our flickr account.  Until then I must go back to my booth to finish my setup.  Tomorrow is going to be crazy.

Blog World Expo pt. 5

posted on: November 5th, 2007

I just had a great meeting with my PR rep Huy Diep and we just got done with the last minute preparations for our Booth details for Blog World Expo.  One of my prior business partners always informed me that marketing is going to be our biggest expense.  In this case, he is totally right.   Marketing is all about image.

Blogging The Movie has  made a tremendous effort to change that through our design and behavior.  First impressions at a conventions need to make a statement of clarity and focus.

Marketing items so far:

1. Stickers
2. Postcards
3. Entertainment
4. Handouts
5. Lots of suprises.

Las Vegas seems to be the new camping ground for all entertainment.  The recent VMA for MTV was even held in Las Vegas.  The food is phenomenal, the shows are the best, and the entertainment is non-stop.  What a better way to networking, in a city filled with the ideal that it is about who you know.

Networking serves not only a symbiotic relationship, but a synergistic one.  This can be represented when 2 people bridge an idea or concept together.  This idea then becomes bigger that the 2 people itself.  For instance the 30 GB Zune that was passed down from John Chow to Ms. Danielle to Enkay became bigger than the people.  That contest created a big buzz because it had a history and a story to it.

I hope to accomplish at Blog World Expo to reach out to many bloggers and become a strong front in the community where everyone can support this documentary and an idea where everyone can benefit from it.  Fortunately, Blogging The Movie is a brand that can appeal to bloggers, companies, and the industry.  It’s a win-win situation, so going into this expo we are very certain that the benefits of getting a booth will stamp our Brand into the Blogosphere.

Get ready.  Blogging the Movie is set for Las Vegas Nov 8th and 9th.

$200 PC catered for Google

posted on: November 2nd, 2007

Finally computer free of the Microsoft operating system is now in mass production catered toward no other than the growing gentle giant - Google.

I’m not sure if I’m happy or sad.  Well for one you finally have a competitor able to take on Microsoft.  But I feel like Google is actually taking over everything they can get their hands on.  Even though it’s not made by Google, it offers something different.

Google knows that they want to be the #1 search engine on the market and stay there for good.  What better way to stay on top than to offer a cheap way for everyone to use their new GOS.  Google has moved toward a dependency phase, where everything related in the web will want to be associated with Google.  This tactic move will trump all other search engines forever.

New versions of Linux and inexpensive hardware like the new Everex gPC TC2502 make that tax avoidable.

This computer has a 1.5-gigahertz Via processor, 512 megabytes of memory and an 80-gigabyte hard drive. What makes it stand out, however, is GOS, a version of Linux specially made to run Google applications like GMail and Google Documents. It also runs OpenOffice, an open-source office suite that can handle Microsoft Word documents, and some multimedia applications.

The gPC is available now at Wal-Mart for $200, including a keyboard and mouse.  [nytimes - John Biggs]

Mommy Blogs on the Rise

posted on: October 25th, 2007

A driving force in the market is emerging.  With the new rise of blogs becoming a source of information.  Stay at home moms are using the blogs as a medium to form a community between like minded mothers.

One of the most popular mom blogs is dooce.com who gained her claim to fame from being fired at work for blogging about the company (if you remember that story in the news).

An important person in the mommy blog market is Wendy Piersall from emomsathome. She has created a whole empire for moms to create a source of income.  Her how-to guide to using the internet to make money from a mom’s perspective is an easy sell for all the stay at home moms who want to be productive.  Her site also gives tips for moms regarding activities, parenting and craft ideas.

Kimchi Mamas is a delightful blog about Korean mothers from -Nina, Twizzle, Irène, Linda, Delia, Weigook Saram, and Stefania.  It’s a little group of bloggers giving their insights on everything.  So have a cold beer and enjoy they say.

Demand

The demand is there.  It’s going to be a matter of time until the supply will meet the demand.  There is a huge potential for this market.  We shall see who can capitalize in this market in the coming year.
